Dear Handmade Life's Patchwork Show: A Modern Makers Festival

Patchwork Show is Dear Handmade Life’s bi-annual, makers festival showcasing local emerging artists, crafters, and designers alongside DIY crafting, food trucks, and music.

The event has grown from a small craft fair in a parking lot into multiple locations including Santa Ana, Long Beach, Oakland, and Ventura Beach and showcases different makers and collaborations that reflect the local community. Vendors include clothing, accessories, jewelry, art, ceramics, home goods, pet gear, kits, apothecary goods and more!

I traveled from Chicago to participate in Patchwork Show Oakland on June 1 as an experience booth vendor with a DIY crafting activity. What an amazing day! Attendees cruising through Jack London Square stopped at my table to make mini paper banners with the affirmations choose to shine, be your beautiful self, stay crafty, be kind to yourself, and slay all day.

I worked with about 20 adults and kids throughout the day to create this fun and inspirational craft. Scroll left or right to see the photos!

This was my first destination craft fair. I could not have coordinated it without the help of my sister who lives in the Bay area.

I’m glad these little affirmation banners are helping to spread a little sunshine in the world.

I got to chat with Nicole, the co-founder of Patchwork show and Craftcation: Business & Maker’s Conference about the annual four-day conference is held at the beach in Ventura, California. It features expert instructors leading attendees in business and craft workshops as well as social gatherings to connect with fellow attendees and activities and inspiration to reconnect with yourself. I’m looking forward to attending the next Craftcation in the spring.

I put together craft kits for you to able to create the mini paper affirmation banners for yourself, with your kiddos, or friends. You can order on here on Etsy!
