Historic Run: Exploring Oak Park and River Forest with Fleet Feet

Running nerds took to the streets of Oak Park and River Forest for a post Fourth of July historic run with Fleet Feet Oak Park. I started running in Oak Park. The amazing architecture, massive trees and wide roads are very runner friendly.

The tour started in Downtown Oak Park and wound through a few points of interest.  The first stop of course was the home of Frank Lloyd Wright. The tour took on a whole Mafia gangster theme as the group learned many of them lived in the area.

This is Tony 'Big Tuna' Accardo's ostentatious former home - gold gates and all.

This was the first historic run from the Oak Park location. In one hour, we barely scratched the surface of all its points of interest.  Oak Park and the surrounding villages have plenty of history to explore in runs to come!
