Dots Spring & Summer 2012 Style Party and training updates

I think I really pissed the devil off in my last post because my half marathon training went to hell in a hand basket again this past week. Last Sunday’s ‘long’ run (4.5 miles) was fab. I felt great. I had very little soreness and my pace was a minute faster than what I’ve been averaging lately. What was supposed to be an easy run on Tuesday (3 miles) was a disaster. To start, it was pouring rain. I’ve run in the rain plenty of times, so I had no qualms about getting onto the track and getting in a run. But before I finished my first lap, my foot was incredibly sore. It came out of no where. I’m inclined to blame the rain. It’s not unheard of for people with injuries to feel increased pain with a drop in pressure that accompanies rain. Aaargh! Not to mention, I guess I didn’t realize how hard it was actually raining because I was absolutely soaked after one stinking lap.
Thursday, I was still not feeling up to getting out for a run. Mostly because I was still bummed from Tuesday. Funny how that works, because I know a run would've made me feel better. But, because of my long break, I was able to get in my ‘long run’ (5 miles) a day early on Saturday. I feel o.k. today. The test will again be how my run goes this coming Tuesday.

Blogging keeps me busy. A couple of weeks ago I attended Dots Spring & Summer 2012 Style Party which gave Chicago Blogger Network members the opportunity to be the first to see Dots’ summer looks. The event also celebrated the opening of one of Dots’ new Chicago area stores.
I must admit before this event, I had never set foot in a Dots store. I thought I was a bit older than their target demographic. After getting a personalized tour through the store and an update on the current trends, I was pleasantly surprised. There were lots of trendy pieces, but also basic items like tanks and jeans. They also offer really cute jewelry and accessories which I tend to go for rather than trendy clothing.
Dots treated Chicago Blogger Network attendees to champagne, sweet treats, and the outfit of their choice. I tried on this dress which looked cute on the rack, but looked about 10 years my junior once I had it on. I was not swayed by my friend's attempt to convince me that it looked good on me! I opted for white skinny jeans and a coral tank instead. I think I’m still young enough to pull off this look . . . right?
With the way my training has been progressing, it’s hard for me to imagine going the 13.1 mile distance in seven weeks at this point. I’d much rather run the 5K option! But, I’m committed to try and make it work. My only goal is to be injury free at the end of it all.

That dress actually looks cute on you, but you gotta be comfortable and confident in what you're rockin', so you made the right choice with the 2nd outfit. Onward with your training!!!
